Ethan Lege represents Ole Miss as 2024 Ferriss Trophy finalist
Ethan Lege’s last seven days have included some bad news and some good news. The latter being the Ole Miss outfielder named a finalist for the 2024 Ferris Trophy.
The trophy, named after Delta State’s legendary coach and major league pitcher Boo Ferriss, honors the top college baseball player in Mississippi.
Lege is one of five finalists for the annual award. Mississippi State’s Dakota Jordan, Belhaven University’s Brett Sanchez, Southern Mississippi’s Dalton McIntyre and William Carey University’s RJ Stinson were the other four finalists.
Former Ole Miss outfielder Kemp Alderman won the 2023 Ferris Trophy, ending a seven-year stretch without a Rebel taking home the honor. Prior to Alderman the most recent Ole Miss player to win was outfielder Auston Bousfield in 2014.
Tuesday’s news bookends a week that started with Lege getting hit in his right hand and fracturing his thumb, playing against Mississippi State in Pearl last Wednesday. Lege sat out the Auburn series this past weekend and a timetable for a return is unknown, but it comes down to pain tolerance for the senior.
