Deane Leonard was the most recent Ole Miss Rebel selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

He helped the program make history in the process.

Leonard was taken by the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round (No. 236) on Saturday, meaning Ole Miss has now had at least six players drafted in a single year for just the second time in 51 years. The other year was 2016, headlined by second-round wide receivers A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf.

Leonard appeared in 18 games in his two Ole Miss seasons.

He finished with 63 tackles, 14 passes defended and one fumble recovery. He had 50 tackles and seven pass break-ups in 2021-22, when Ole Miss was 10-3 overall, including its 10th all-time appearance in the Sugar Bowl.

EDGE Sam Williams was the highest-drafted Rebel (second round, Dallas Cowboys) on the weekend. Quarterback Matt Corral (Carolina Panthers) and running back Snoop Conner (Jacksonville Jaguars) followed in the third and fifth rounds, respectively. Linebacker Chance Campbell had his name called by the Tennessee Titans (No. 219) in the sixth, while linebacker Mark Robinson (Pittsburgh Steelers) preceded Leonard in the seventh at No. 225.
