Florida State cornerback Jarvis Brownlee, Jr. to officially visit Ole Miss this weekend
Florida State cornerback Jarvis Brownlee made headlines when he reportedly sat out of the Seminoles’ spring practice due to a lack of an NIL deal.
Now he is in the news again. This time it is because he will be taking an official visit to Oxford to meet with head coach Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. Brownlee entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on March 24 despite being in the mix for a starting role on the Noles defense.
The Opa Locka, Fla., prospect played in 78 games while in Tallahassee, making 48 total tackles, four passes defended, three interceptions, one forced fumble, one sack and one defensive touchdown. The former three-star prospect in the 2019 class chose Florida State over notable offers from LSU, Florida, Miami, Pittsburgh, Boston College, UCF, FAU, Cincinnati, UAB, Appalachian State and Tulane.
Brownlee was previously committed to Miami before ultimately flipping to in-state rival Florida State. In high school, the 5-foot-11, 181 pound defensive back was clocked as fast as 4.34 in the 40-yard dash and was a part of a defense as a senior which recorded five shutouts and allowed just 9.8 points per game. Miami Carol City and Brownlee finished with a 9-3 record and regional semifinal appearance in the Florida Class 6A playoffs. He also recorded the longest interception return in Traz-Powell Stadium history, going back 108 yards for a touchdown.

Florida State coaches rave about his physical play at the line of scrimmage and his impressive wingspan makes him a nuisance in one-on-one coverage downfield.
“He has some long arms, and that’s what allows him to be so special in press coverage and playing man,” Carol City defensive coordinator Greg Moss, the former secondary coach at FIU, told The Athletic in an interview from 2019. “He’s built like a DB and he can run. (He’s) able to change direction with his lateral movement, and then his straight-line speed is something that really allows him to run with vertical routes. Those are things that you want to see in a guy that plays that position.”
Ole Miss recently hosted Middle Tennessee State cornerback transfer Quincy Riley so it would appear they are looking for an experienced, ready-made cornerback who can step in and be a factor right away.
