Former Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning named to 2022 SEC Football Legends Class
Eli Manning is not done with receiving accolades for his time at Ole Miss.
On Thursday the Southeastern Conference announced its 2022 Football Legends Class and Manning was selected to represent Ole Miss. A former player from all 14 SEC teams are named to each year’s class.
Manning, a four-year letterwinner for Ole Miss from 2000-03, won the Maxwell Award as a senior, an honor given to the best all-around player in college football. He set or tied 47 Ole Miss single‑game, season and career records during his time in Oxford.
In the 2003 Heisman Trophy voting Manning finished third to conclude his Rebel career. Manning finished with a school-record 10,119 career passing yards and 81 career TD passes. He also set new Ole Miss career records for completions (829) and passing attempts (1,363), and both marks ranked fourth on the SEC career lists.
Last year, Ole Miss honored Manning by retiring his No. 10 jersey. He joined his father, Archie Manning, and Chucky Mullins as the only three numbers to be retired in program history.

Last month it was announced that the program will retire the late Ben Williams’ No. 74 jersey number during the this year’s Egg Bowl.
Eli solidified his place in Ole Miss history with a historic senior campaign in 2003. Besides the Maxwell Award, he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and earned numerous All-America honors after throwing for 3,600 yards and 29 TDs.
He earned SEC Offensive Player of the Year, helping lead Ole Miss to a 10-3 record and a win over Oklahoma State in the 2004 Cotton Bowl.
The class will be honored at the 2022 SEC Football “Weekend of Champions” December 2-3 in Atlanta, Georgia, highlighted by the annual SEC Legends Celebration on Dec. 2 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. The group will also be recognized prior to the SEC Football Championship Game, which will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 3.
