From the Locker Room: Ole Miss' comeback win at Arkansas was 'one for the record books'
The Ole Miss women’s basketball team was staring at a 19-point deficit when it went into halftime at Arkansas on Sunday. Another Southeastern Conference road win opportunity was slipping out of the Rebels hands for a second straight week.
History did repeat itself in a sense as Ole Miss rallied and forced overtime for a second Sunday in a row, but this outcome was different than the game at Auburn on Jan. 22. The Rebels powered through and outplayed the Razorbacks to get a second straight win since suffering their first two-game losing skid of the season.
Sunday’s win was vital to the continued success of the season for Ole Miss (18-4, 7-2 SEC) which has a NET ranking of 30. Not only did the Rebels improve to 6-2 on the road but also created a cushion between them and 5th place team Alabama along with the other nine SEC teams beneath them.

“I’m just incredibly proud of our team,” said head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin. “The resiliency and fight and composure and trust that they played with in the second half is something for the record books in my opinion.”

Ole Miss back in the thick of things when it comes to the SEC standings, sitting only behind No. 1 South Carolina, No. 4 LSU and Tennessee. Those three teams are still on the horizon for the Rebels, starting with the Volunteers on Thursday in Knoxville.
“We have shown when things have gotten tough in the past to just melt and have breakdowns and, I don’t know how else to say this, but quit,” McCuin said. “What you saw in the second half was no more quit, no more melt downs, resiliency.”
