From the Locker Room: Ole Miss’ Kiffin, Cistrunk, Dart and Judkins
Unlike most everyone else, the Ole Miss defense, all this week, was clearly eager to flush last week’s historic win over LSU and just move on.
Arkansas, though, was a much-needed palate-cleanse and a game veteran linebacker Ashanti Cistrunk and Co. might want to stew on for a while.
“We could have done some things better as far as tackling, but we played pretty good,” Cistrunk said afterwards. “(Ole Miss head) Coach (Lane) Kiffin put a lot on us to come back, so we just worked at it. We focused on everything we were doing and the little small details. The scout team has been helping us with the looks.
“We got after it.”
Condensed Game: Ole Miss defense ’pulled us through’ in gritty win over Arkansas
Ole Miss held Arkansas to just 288 total yards, the fewest surrendered to an SEC opponent in over four years, and 36 rushing yards, the fewest for an SEC opponent since 2014.
Ole Miss had a season-high five sacks. The Rebels have at least four sacks in four out of six games this season. They had two interceptions, including one by Cistrunk, who had a season-high nine tackles.

It was the second theft of his career.
“I really was just reading off of (Arkansas QB) KJ (Jefferson),” Cistrunk said. “Tried to bait him a little bit, and then I broke on it and I caught the pick. I was just laughing the whole time. I’ve been hearing from my teammates how I run slow.
“I guess I’ve got to do speed training the rest of this week.”
Cistrunk was one of three players to meet the media following the 27-20 win.
The others were QB Jaxson Dart and RB Quinshon Judkins. Ole Miss is 5-1 (2-1 SEC) and now enters its bye week. The Rebels next travel to Auburn October 21.
Kiffin also held a question-and-answer session with the media. Here’s everything the group had to say, in videos provided by Ole Miss Athletics.
