From the Locker Room: Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, Zamari Walton and Jaxson Dart
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, senior cornerback Zamari Walton and junior quarterback Jaxson Dart all met the media following the No. 15 Rebels’ 24-10 loss at No. 12 Alabama on Saturday. Ole Miss next hosts No. 14 LSU in a week’s time. The Tigers escaped Arkansas with a three-point win.
“A lot of credit to Alabama,” Kiffin said to open his postgame press conference. The Rebels are now 3-1 (0-1 SEC) on the season. “They battled through a lot this week and people questioning them. I thought they came out and played really physical. Did a great job on defense, especially in the secondary.
Dart was 20 for 35 through the air for 244 yards.
He added his sixth career rushing touchdown to set a new single-season career-high (3). Walton was responsible for Ole Miss’ third interception of the season, which came in the end zone in the second quarter. It was Walton’s first interception as a Rebel. Ole Miss pulled Walton from Georgia Tech as a transfer in the off-season.

Walton’s up to four career interceptions. He had an Ole Miss-high five tackles as well.
“We really struggled on third down, which is a big part of the game,” Kiffin continued. “I thought we did some good things on defense at times, but the whole thing was to not let this quarterback (Jalen Milroe) throw it over our head and make him work it downfield. Ended up going over our head twice for two big plays.
“Really disappointed in the result. Came in here to win. Didn’t do that today. Wish we would have hit that last pass there to get to one score with three timeouts and see what would have happened there. Disappointing, especially when you don’t get these guys again, at least for a year. Enormous missed opportunities.”
