From the Locker Room: Yo honors Summit after Rebels beat Vols for just third time in 30 years
Ole Miss head women’s basketball coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin struck a lighter tone in her most recent postgame press conference.
Days after she called out her school’s fans and local media for lack of support, McPhee-McCuin spent her time on Sunday heaping praise on the near-4,000 fans who showed up for an historic, 80-75 Ole Miss win over Tennessee.
“When the buzzer sounded, I got super emotional,” McPhee-McCuin said. “Now there are only two teams I haven’t beaten (in the SEC).”

Path for ACC outlined
The Rebels picked up just their third win over the Volunteers in the last 30 years.
It was their first win in the series in seven.
The win moved the Rebels (15-5, 5-2 SEC) into a three-way tie for second in the SEC. They next hit the road for back-to-back games at Vanderbilt and No. 1 South Carolina.
“I have so much love for (legendary Tennessee head coach) Pat Summit’s legacy,” McPhee McCuin said. “Pat Summit was the first female catch that I was able to witness. I had never seen a woman coach until I saw Pat Summit. I love Pat Summit.
“This means a lot. Every time we play Tennessee, y’all, I swear I feel Pat’s spirit. It’s not like I played for. I only met her a couple of times. But this is someone who mentored me from afar. So, for me, beating Tennessee means a lot. More importantly, it puts us in a good position as far as our standings are concerned.”
Here’s everything McPhee-McCuin and select Ole Miss players said after the game.
