From the Wire: Ole Miss women's golf in ninth after round two of Tallahassee Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Ole Miss women’s golf team dropped one spot following Tuesday’s second round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. The Rebels logged a score of 310 (+22) on the day, moving the squad into ninth place ahead of Wednesday’s third and final round of play from Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
Only the top four finishing teams will clinch spots in the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, along with the top two individuals from non-advancing teams.
Ending her day in a tie for 20th individually, Andrea Lignell continued to pace the Rebels. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native tallied a second round of 78 (+6) in Tallahassee. Lignell ranks third in the field in par-3 scoring, shooting one-under on the week thus far. Her two-day total of 150 (+6) has her three strokes back from earning a potential individual bid to the NCAA Championships.
Chiara Tamburlini rallied from a slow start to her day to finish with a 77 (+5) to conclude round two. She tallied a total of four birdies across her final nine holes to finish 1-under on her back nine. Tamburlini is tied for 30th headed into the third and final day.
Both McKinley Cunningham and Natacha Host Husted carded the final two counting scores for the Rebels on Tuesday, with Cunningham posting a 77 (+5) and Host Husted tallying a 78 (+6). Cunningham ranks 44th heading into Wednesday’s finale with a two-day total of 155 (+11), while Host Husted sits at 15-over par and in a tie for 58th.
Julia Johnson rounded out the day for the Rebels with a score of 81 (+9) on Tuesday, bringing her two-day total to 157 (+13) and in 51th place.
Regional host Florida State and No. 2 seed UCLA currently lead the way on the team leaderboard with a two-day totals of 580 (+4), while Mississippi State (+17) and South Carolina (+19) each possess the other two of the top four positions needed to advance to Scottsdale.
Ole Miss will tee off for one last round in Tallahassee on Wednesday at 7 a.m. CT, with the Rebels set to begin their final day of action off of No. 10 at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
