Two weeks into the regular season and college football feels in midseason form with some of the big matchups that have already taken place in early September, including Ole Miss.
But with those games comes big wins and big upsets, shaking the bowl projections that are usually boring this time of year. For Ole Miss it saw a little bit of a change from what the experts and prognosticators have predicted its postseason fortunes to be.
The No. 17 Rebels — which were ranked No. 20 at the time — went to New Orleans this past weekend and beat a then No. 24-ranked Tulane on hits home turf inside Yulman Stadium. A road victory over a ranked opponent usually comes with some rewards.
Those came both in the polls and in the bowl projections after week two’s actions concluded. There are 10 games left on the schedule and Ole Miss has all of its most important ones in front of them, starting next weekend at No. 10 Alabama.
But for this week the Ole Miss fans can enjoy the prospects of heading to warmer climate come December or the New Year’s holiday.

ESPN’s projections by Kyle Bonagura and Mark Shclabach have the Rebels going in opposite directions. Bonagura predicts them heading back to Orlando to take on Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. Schlabach has them playing Maryland in the Music City Bowl in Nashville.
The Citrus Bowl matchup is a popular one this week for Ole Miss. College Football News replicates Bonagura’s matchup.
Another Florida bowl in the Rebels projections this week is the Gator Bowl. Jerry Palm of CBS Sports projects them taking on Miami in Jacksonville while Athlon Sports projects North Carolina State playing Ole Miss at TIAA Bank Field.
The second non-Florida projection is by Action Network’s Brett McMurphy. He has Ole Miss in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte taking on Miami and has the Rebels as a 13.5-point favorite.
