‘I wouldn’t write him off’: Demond Williams still in play for Ole Miss? And the Curious Case of Spencer Sanders
In this edition of #notcommitted, Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit is joined by On3 scouting and rankings assistant Cody Bellaire to discuss, among other topics, the ranking process for recruits on services such as On3 and elsewhere.
Plus, Bellaire has in-depth scouting reports on the Rebels’ newest 2024 quarterback offers, Hauss Hejny and Trever Jackson. Bellaire likes both prospects. Did they pass the eye test at the Elite 11 Finals?
“Basically the team you’re committed to says, ‘Hey, man, just so you know, we’re going to take someone that’s technically a class behind you and have him leap-frog you and join our QB room. By the way, we added two transfers in the last cycle.’ I’m not shocked by it. The writing was on the wall there,” Bellaire said of the de-commitment of long-time four-star Ole Miss quarterback commit Demond Williams.
“I would say there is a world where Demond Williams can still end up at Ole Miss. It’s just for the kid’s sake, this was the right decision. You take a step back. Honestly, it’s a very professional move on his part.

“What you don’t want is for the kid to stay committed and then start going all over the place and taking a tour of the U.S. and all these campuses while he’s committed to Ole Miss. If (Ole Miss) really likes Austin Simmons, great, you get him in the class. For Demond, if you’re unsure of your future there, make the decision.
“It’s totally valid. I think it’s right on both ends. I wouldn’t write him off completely as an Ole Miss fan, but it’s still a business, and I think he’s trying to make the right choice.”
