'I'm just a normal person': Lane Kiffin is a fan of college football and has the emotions to show it
Whenever Ole Miss is playing there is a game within the game at times; watching Lane Kiffin up and down the sidelines.
The third-year coach has provided many memorable and viral moments from roaming the sidelines and his emotions do sometimes get the better of him.
A clipboard may fly through the air when Kiffin sees a play work to perfection for a long touchdown. He might just do some over-the-top fist pumping when Ole Miss punches one in from close.
Kiffin has all eyes on him nearly all the time but on Saturdays the secondary spotlight is firmly on him.
Except this year there has not been as many highlight reel moments from Kiffin through the first seven games. He has been seen nearly attempting to do a handstand against Auburn when Ole Miss converted the onside kick, but not many more like that.
So far it has been all business like by Kiffin, but he still lets his emotions known and lets the game dictate them.
“I (threw the play sheet in the air) once, but it wasn’t on TV which I was kind of glad,” Kiffin said during his weekly appearance on the SEC Coaches teleconference on Wednesday.

“(It) was on one of the really long back-to-back touchdowns plays at Vanderbilt. Sometimes you get real excited when a scheme works and players make plays. You put a lot into these work weeks and these players and a lot of new pieces and when they come together, you know, you get excited. I just kind of get in the game with the players. Feed off of them.”

Kiffin’s personality is not exclusive to the sidelines of football stadiums as it bleeds over into the social media arena, too.
Checking Kiffin’s Twitter feed is a pastime for many, waiting to see what clever tweet he comes up with next. Several went viral last week ahead of Alabama playing at Tennessee, as he has a storied past with both.
Once his duties were done after the Auburn game and with recruiting last Saturday Kiffin turned his attention to the Volunteers as they hit a last-second field goal to knock off the Crimson Tide.
While his personality may lead many to think Kiffin has quirks to watching a football game apparently nothing could be further from the truth.
“I’m just a normal person,” Kiffin quipped. “(I was) flipping back between games with my son and his friends, eating pizza and on the couch. It was pretty exciting.”
Of course the outcome of that game between the Volunteers and Tide held major implications for both the SEC East and West. With Alabama suffering its first conference loss it put Ole Miss atop the Western Division standings and in control of its own destiny for Atlanta and beyond.
