Jaxson Dart no longer attending 2025 NFL Draft

Plans change and things happen, which is the case for former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart and his original plans for the 2025 NFL Draft.
The NFL revised its list of players attending next week’s draft in Green Bay and Dart was one of two players removed from the list on Friday. No reason was given as to why Dart opted to no longer be at the NFL Draft in person.
Georgia EDGE rusher Mykel Williams was the other player removed from the list and Kentucky defensive back Maxwell Hairston was added, according to a report from ESPN.
Reports surfaced earlier in the week that Dart was going to no longer attend the NFL Draft, though nothing was confirmed until Friday’s updated list.
On Thursday Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin was asked following practice if he was aware of the change of plans by his former quarterback.

“Yeah, he’s informed me what he’s doing. I don’t know if that’s really my position to say that, and I don’t know what’s out there,” Kiffin said. “So, he’s made a decision (of) what he’s doing. There’s a lot of different reasons why people do and why they don’t. It’s probably a better question for him.”
Dart has been trending upward throughout the NFL Draft process since January and expected to be a top QB pick.
While Cam Ward is the odds on overall No. 1 pick a debate has formed between Dart and former Colorado quarterback Shadeur Sanders over who will be the second quarterback taken off the board.
With New Orleans in potential need for a quarterback after the surprise news of Derek Carr’s shoulder injury Dart has also bounced in and out of becoming a Top 10 overall pick. If that were to happen he would be the first Ole Miss quarterback drafted in the first round, or the top 10 for that matter, since Eli Manning 21 years ago.
“This has been something I’ve dreamed of my whole life,” Dart told Good Morning Football on Thursday. “I remember going back to pre-school and writing down what do you want to be one day. I want to be a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.”
The 2025 NFL Draft takes place April 24-26 and will air on ESPN and NFL Network.
