Jaxson Dart shined in Ole Miss' first scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday

We (unofficially) have a leader in the Ole Miss quarterback race.

USC transfer Jaxson Dart (16-20, 248 yards, two touchdowns) stood out from the pack in the Rebels’ first full-team, game-like scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday.

Not that Luke Altmyer (14-20, 124 yards, no touchdowns, one interception) and Kinkead Dent (7-7, 62 yards, two touchdowns) face-planted. No, Dart was just better.

“Dart is the Ole Miss quarterback,” former Ole Miss offensive lineman and Ole Miss Spirit contributor Bradley Sowell wrote of the quarterbacks in his scrimmage report.

“His best is just better than the that of Altmyer or Dent, which was on display multiple times on Saturday. Dart, the transfer from USC, can extend plays, and he looked really comfortable in the pocket. Dart hit on a few big-time deep throws in the scrimmage. Actually, he looked like a totally different player than the one we all saw in the spring.

“If Ole Miss is gonna have a chance to compete this year, the hope, at least in my opinion, is Dart is under center, because his talent is undeniable.”
