Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart set the Ole Miss single-season passing yardage record and total offense record as the Rebels went up 17-0 on Duke in the Gator Bowl. He set the records with a completion to tight end Caden Prieskorn in the 2nd quarter.

Former Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly held the single-season passing record with 4,042 yards. Dart’s always just enjoyed playing ball out there and on Thursday, he’s having a lot of fun with a big early lead over Duke.

“I never even thought about it,” Dart said on Tuesday after the penultimate practice of his Ole Miss career. “There’s times they would come in and I had no idea I’d even broke that one. I’ve really just had fun being out there playing. There’s been a little talk about it among the coaches but it’s never been a thought for me going into games.”

With his touchdown pass to Dae’Quan Wright to go up 24-7 in the 2nd quarter, Dart passed Dak Prescott for 5th on the SEC career total offense list. He passed Jared Lorenzen earlier Thursday for 8th in SEC history in passing yards.

It’s been an unreal run for Jaxson Dart in Oxford since transferring from USC. He leaves Ole Miss as its leader in wins (27), passing (10,213) and total offense (11,668). Dart entered the game with leading the FBS in total offense (360.6) and yards/attempt (10.7). He owns each of the top-two total offense and passing performances in Ole Miss bowl history.

Dart earned and accepted an invite to February’s Reese’s Senior Bowl. This will be his first chance to be in front of NFL scouts, coaches and executives for a week as it is the start of the 2025 NFL Draft process. According to Mel Kiper, Jr., the program’s all-time leading passer ranked inside his Top 10 passers.

“Jaxson Dart is a physically talented quarterback with plus-level playmaking ability,” Bleacher Report’s scouting report of Dart reads. “Dart excels at throwing isolated and schemed-up routes between the hashes in the middle of the field. He tends to attack one-on-one matchups. He identifies these favorable matchups pre-snap and gives his wide receivers a chance to make a play.”

Dart played in part to help grab a 10th win this season, which would give head coach Lane Kiffin his third 10-win season and the first consecutive ones at Ole Miss since 1959-60.

Dart this season became the school’s all-time leader in career passing yards. He passed Eli Manning. His 10,213 yards are the 10th-most in SEC history. He’s thrown for 68 touchdowns and rushed for 1,455 career yards and 12 additional scores.
