Jaxson Dart's Spring Break consisted of more work with his wide receivers in California
When someone thinks of Spring Break California is a reasonable guess of a destination, but for Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart it was a destination for more work to be done and not rest and relaxation.
After a couple of practices to kick off the spring drills the Rebels took off last week for Spring Break but for Dart it was an opportunity to get some more work in with his receivers with Southern California serving as the back drop.
Two of Dart’s top targets, Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins, made the trip out West last week. The trio saw it as an opportunity to strengthen their bond on the field and off.
For Dart it was also an opportunity to test out his ankle after some offseason cleanup on it.
“It wasn’t even as much of me inviting them. It was guys coming up to me going, ‘Hey, what are you doing during Spring Break? I want to get some work in,'” Dart said. “Tre and ‘J-Wat’ came out and I thought it was just great, especially me coming off the injury, being able to throw again and try to get as much reps as I can with them just because I’m not doing as much on the field at practice right now. So, it was great to have those guys out there with me.”
Shortly after the Peach Bowl victory Dart had a procedure done to get back to 100 percent. Last week was the first time he threw in bulk.
This year is the first time at Ole Miss Dart is entering a season as the unquestioned starter.
While Dart felt he was the guy last year there was a still a competition with Spencer Sanders transferring in from Oklahoma State. The year prior Luke Altmyer provided spring and fall camp competition.

In 2024 Ole Miss is Dart’s team and entering year three in Oxford Dart is working on continuing to better himself as a leader in the locker room.
“I think the big thing for me it just try and take that next step in my game,” Dart said. “I want to be the best quarterback in the country. That’s my goal day-in-and-day-out. I look at what I can be doing, the little things throughout the day. Time management, whatever it may be, to put my all into this. At the end of the day it comes down to winning. Trying to be more of a leader in all regards and I want to be a guy people can look to, good times or bad.”
There is not a lot of expectations or pressure on Dart over the next few weeks. The only goal for him is to get to 100 percent and ready come August.
The next month allows plenty of reps for Walker Howard and Austin Simmons and to grow the depth of one of the deepest quarterback rooms in the country.
