Lane Kiffin wasted little time identifying, and landing, the next General Manager for Ole Miss football.
Kiffin, on the first day of February, pulled Billy Glasscock away from Texas to replace Austin Thomas. Thomas returned to LSU earlier in the off-season.
“A pioneer in the college player personnel and recruiting space,” On3’s Jake Langi said of Glasscock. “He was one of the first directors of recruiting in the entire country (and) had to create his own recruiting blueprint through trial and error. That same blueprint has been refined over the years and then borrowed, stolen and recycled many times over by staffers all over college football.”
“Glasscock was one of the bigger contributors behind the scenes in Texas’ recent recruiting efforts that saw the Longhorns land three straight Top 6 classes and highly-ranked portal hauls,” added Joe Cook of On3’s Inside Texas. “The Longhorn roster is as healthy as it’s been since the mid-2000s heyday of Mack Brown thanks in part to Glasscock’s work as the director of player personnel.”
Ole Miss made the hire of Glasscock official on Monday (February 12) evening.
He’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of Ole Miss’ player personnel, recruiting, performance analytics, academic support and other areas. Glasscock spent three seasons at Texas as the Director of Player Personnel.
“We are excited to add seasoned leadership to our team administration with the addition of Billy Glasscock,” Kiffin said in a statement released by the school. “He has played an integral role in program growth at several high-level institutions, and we look forward to experiencing his impact here at Ole Miss.”

Glasscock has spent a decade overseeing all facets of recruiting and player personnel at Power Five programs.
He was the director of player personnel at NC State prior to Texas. Glasscock led all of the Wolfpack’s recruiting activities and roster management from 2017-20. He directed recruiting operations at Minnesota from 2011-16. National recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, in 2014, named Glasscock one of five National Directors of Recruiting Operations of the Year.
Glasscock also previously served as a recruiting operations assistant and assistant strength and conditioning coach at Northern Illinois. He had prior stints as an assistant coach at Arizona Western (2008) an Joliet Junior College (2002-07).
Glasscock holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Sports Academy. He and his wife, Amanda, have four children: Ava, Maddie, Will and Lily.
