Caden Prieskorn’s ‘wild ride’ to Ole Miss ‘helped mold’ a potential NFL tight end
To say Caden Prieskorn’s journey to Ole Miss has been eventful would be an understatement.
He’s a former 220-pound high school quarterback who spent a year at a military prep school in Virginia before Memphis took him on as a walk-on. He’s since bulked up to 260 and turned himself into a potential NFL tight end as early as next year.
“It’s been a wild ride,” Prieskorn said. He joined the Ole Miss Spirit’s Talk of Champions podcast on Thursday.
Prieskorn’s original, post-high-school plans were to play both football and basketball at a local Division-II school. However, he instead followed a high-school friend from Michigan to Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. That same connection got him on at Memphis.
“You have to get up around 6 a.m., get dressed, march to breakfast, go back to your room and sweep the flag,” Prieskorn recalled. “It was tough, but it helped me get through hard situations.

Prieskorn appeared in all 25 games for Memphis the last two seasons.
He led the Tigers in receiving yards (602) and tied for the team lead in touchdowns (7) in 2022. He was named first-team All-AAC and is widely considered one of the top returning players at his position in all of college football.
“It’s been awesome summer training with the guys (and) just the extra throwing sessions on the field with the quarterbacks,” Prieskorn said of his Ole Miss transition.
