LISTEN: NY6 or Citrus? Barstool’s Ben Mintz hoping for the former but expecting the latter
In this edition of The Flagship — a part of the Ole Miss Spirit’s Talk of Champions podcast network, and powered by College Corner — Ben Garrett of OMSpirit.com is joined by Barstool’s Ben Mintz to talk the juiciest storylines in college football right now.
Among them? the Rebels’ New Year’s Six potential. No. 11 Ole Miss finished the regular season 10-2. Their only losses were at Alabama and at Georgia, a pair of teams with one combined loss between them. The Bulldogs have won back-to-back national titles and don’t have a loss in Athens since the pandemic.
“I think this one’s a pretty good argument where you went 10-2 with a super-hard schedule,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin said last week. “Even your non-conference (including a win over NY6-bound Tulane). I’d like to see the other 10-2 (teams) end up 10-2. I would doubt their losses are going to be harder ones than those two places to play.
“Georgia is about 30-0 in their last 30 games. And Alabama has lost two in their, whatever it’s been, last 52 home games. That’s got to be the two hardest place to win right now.”

Mintz believes Lane Kiffin has squeezed every last drop out of this Rebel team.
Ole Miss secured 10 regular-season wins for the second time in program history with a 17-7 win at rival Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, and a postseason win would clinch the Rebels’ first-ever 11-win campaign.
Mintz just hopes it comes against Texas in the Cotton Bowl, rather than Iowa in the Citrus. Oh, and he’s got some thoughts on Mike Elko, who, months ago, Mintz predicted would end up as the new Texas A&M head coach come this silly season. But even Mintz couldn’t have predicted Mississippi State would pluck from the Kiffin Coaching Tree and hire former Rebel offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby.
Let’s get after it.
