Ole Miss transfer commit Izaiah Hartrup

Ole Miss football recruiting ushered in June with star-studded commitments from the high-school ranks and transfer portal.

Southern Illinois wide receiver Izaiah Hartrup announced for the Rebels on Friday. He was just the start. Another receiver, Jordan Smart of North Texas, followed a day later. The Rebels snagged four-star 2025 safety Keon Young on Sunday

They’re not done, either. Well, if Lane Kiffin and Co. have it their way. Five-star wideout Caleb Cunningham, the top prospect in Mississippi, will visit Ole Miss on Tuesday, as first-reported by the Ole Miss Spirit’s Zach Berry

Berry stopped by the Rebel Yell Hotline to discuss all the latest from a whirlwind few days on the trail.

“You look at the two portal pickups that happened over the weekend in Izaiah Hartrup and Jordan Smart (and) the first thing that jumps out is multiple years of eligibility remaining,” Berry began. “Hatrup led the Salukis in receiving last season. Him and Smart both are going to play in the slot. Shifty and good route runners, but the multiple years of eligibility is what jumped out to me.”

Berry doesn’t believe the Rebels are done, either.

“You can never count out Lane Kiffin on just adding talent,” Berry said. “Kiffin’s going to add talent whenever he can. But I don’t think he’s going to push it too much. They’re in a pretty good spot at every position, especially with the addition of Chris Hardie. He reminds me a lot of Isaac Ukwu — kind of a tweener size-wise, but very physical and can really get after the quarterback.

“He was pretty lethal for Jacksonville State a year ago. I think he’s going to fit right in and be a nice change-up to what the rest of the defensive line looks like. He’s going to be a nice speed rush guy opposite Princely Umanmielen and Jared Ivey on the other side.”
