FINAL: GEORGIA 52, OLE MISS 17

Georgia 45, Ole Miss 17 8:50 4Q

Caden Davis hits a 27-yard field goal for the Rebels first points of the second half.

Georgia 45, Ole Miss 14 14:12 4Q

Bowers gets his touchdown in what is probably his final game at Sanford Stadium. The Bulldogs have all their weapons on offense at the same time for the first time this year and they are just overpowering the Rebels defense tonight.

Dart went to the locker room after spending some time in the medical tent. No update yet and might not get one tonight as I am sure we won’t talk to him post game.

END OF THE 3RD QUARTER: GEORGIA 38, OLE MISS 14

One thing Ole Miss didn’t need was a major injury and Jaxson Dart might have had one. He was hit hard on a run and the initial hit cause he and the Georgia defender’s helmets to collide on impact.

He looked out when the trainers rolled him over but he got up and walked to the medical tent on his own. Spencer Sanders came in but Rebels ended up punting it away on the drive.

Georgia 38, Ole Miss 14 3:54 3Q

The Ole Miss defense has gotten stops and tried to slow down this Georgia offense but it is just too good when it gets going. Rebels secondary just look lost out there, yet they manage to hold the Bulldogs to a 27-yard field goal.

Georgia 35, Ole Miss 14 9:15 3Q

The offense had its two chances to get back into the game as the defense got some stops that it desperately needed, but did not manage any points.

Georgia does what Georgia does and probably puts this one way after a 33-yard touchdown run.

Offense still has to punt it away anyway after Dart misses Watkins on third down.

Kiffin goes for the fake punt, which I believe is the first time all season, and it works. Though Gaddie is called for a personal foul after the first down was gained, backing the offense up nearly to where the 4th down was.

Ole Miss defense comes out of the half and gets its first three-and-out of the game. Bulldogs punt for the first time and time for Dart and Co. to answer.

1st Half Stats:

HALFTIME: GEORGIA 28, OLE MISS 14

Georgia was once again threatening to at least come away with a field goal to end the half but Daijahn Anthony gets an interception to keep the deficit at 14 heading into intermission.

Dart’s first mistake of the game comes at a terrible time as he is picked off by Javon Bullard on a ball that just hung up there and was Bullard’s the entire time though it was intended for Wade.

Georgia 28, Ole Miss 14 2:27 2Q

Bulldogs now up two scores after a Kendall Milton seven-yard run.

The final two minutes are critical as the Bulldogs get the ball to start the second half. The middle eight has been a critical period for Ole Miss in these big time games.

Georgia is doing what it wants on offense and has faced only one third down in the game. After looking good in five straight games against SEC offenses the Rebels defense is feeling the effects of the Bulldogs being bigger, faster and stronger.

Ole Miss the first team to have to punt after Dart is sacked for 10 yards on first down. The Bulldogs look bigger and better up front on both sides of the ball so far tonight.

Georgia 21, Ole Miss 14 9:58 2Q

The Rebels secondary is a weak spot in the defense and it gets exposed easily if the defensive front cannot pressure the quarterback. So far Beck has been very comfortable with zero pressures and sacks in the first 25 minutes.

Edwards with a 1-yard TD run after a wide open McConkey got them down inside the 5 with a 41-yard catch.

Ole Miss 14, Georgia 14 14:16 2Q

Rebels answer with a play that saw Eli Acker out wide and JJ Pegues also in. Judkins with the. 4-yard touchdown run. His second of the game.

END OF THE 1ST QUARTER: GEORGIA 14, OLE MISS 7

Ole Miss is answering on this drive, with the help of a defensive pass interference on a long pass to Dayton Wade. Rebels are inside the Bulldogs 5.

Georgia 14, Ole Miss 7 3:09 1Q

The Rebels defense has looked poor the first two drives. Beck and the Georgia offense having its way. McConkey with a 29-yard touchdown catch.

John Saunders, Jr. has been late to the ball on two key plays so far.

Ole Miss went for it on fourth down for the first time and Dart throws it away as there was nowhere to send it and Bulldogs were coming.

Also another holding call on the Rebels, this time on Prieskorn, but it was declined.

Defense needs to answer big time here.

Ole Miss 7, Georgia 7 7:28 1Q

Georgia made that look very easy for a response, going 75 yards on six plays. No pressure by the Rebels and the Bulldogs good offensive line, that is back to full strength protected well.

Daijun Edwards with the one-yard touchdown run.

Ole Miss 7, Georgia 0 10:30 1Q

Ole Miss has converted two third downs on this opening drive. Jayden Williams had a leg injury and came out after four plays. Eli Acker came in and shifted Jeremy James out to right tackle.

Caden Prieskon with a 33-yard catch as the big play on the drive. Judkins scored on a 15-yard run after a James holding call backed up the 1st & Goal to the 15.

Pregame Observations

Ole Miss won the toss and chose to get the football first.

No Micah Pettus but Georgia’s Brock Bowers is suited up and doing warm ups. Bowers was in the starting lineup video but so was Oscar Delp. It is senior night and Bowers last chance to play on this field. I am sure he is going to give it a go.

Jayden Williams was running in Pettus’ spot in warm ups. Looks like it’ll be him getting the start.

Game day is here and for Ole Miss it is a potentially program-defining opportunity in Athens with No. 2 Georgia awaiting in prime time.

The No. 9 Rebels (8-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) and Bulldogs (9-0, 6-0) will be alone in the spotlight of the college football universe on Saturday when they kickoff inside Sanford Stadium.

All week Lane Kiffin has said this game is one where the Rebels are playing with “the house’s money” and a loose feeling leading up to a game where they are a double-digit underdog and everyone is seemingly already writing Georgia’s name in pen on the winner’s line.

Still, the game has to be played and the game inside the game that could determine the outcome is the battle between the Ole Miss defensive line and the Georgia offensive line. The Rebels have the second best sack defense in the SEC with 31 but Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck is the least sacked signal caller in the conference with 9.

Missouri’s defense got to Beck three times last week and it should be expected that Jared Ivey, JJ Pegues and Cedric Johnson will have their success on a wet and soppy field. Though the Rebels defense might have to contend with returning Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.

The Ole Miss offense will have to play its best game of the season, which is an obvious statement, but one that is not more true than this week. Jaxson Dart, Tre Harris and the passing game might have trouble if the weather does not roll out before or during the game, meaning Quinshon Judkins and the ground game will be leaned on heavily.

Keep this page open and stick with The Ole Miss Spirit as it will serves as the live updates for today’s game. That includes score updates, stats, highlights and quarter recaps which will be found here throughout the night.

Ole Miss and Georgia kickoff at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.
