LIVE! From the Manning Center: Stephon Wynn, Jeremy James and John Saunders Jr.
Stephon Wynn isn’t unique.
He’s a former four-star and Top 100 recruit. He signed with Alabama out of high school with the expectation that in three years’ time he’d be in the NFL.
Instead, Wynn is entering his one and only season at Ole Miss. It’ll be his sixth college season overall and the third team he’s played for. He transferred in from Nebraska in the off-season.
“It’s been a blessing,” Wynn said of his journey to Oxford, in meeting with local Ole Miss media for the first time this week. “I’d definitely call it a journey. It’s not how I planned it to go, but I don’t have regrets.
“It’s been a blessing to meet a lot of people. I’ve enjoyed the ride, and I’m grateful to have another opportunity to play the game here.”

Wynn is coming off a career-high year at Nebraska.
He had 22 total tackles, including nine and a half tackle for loss against Georgia Southern. In all, the 6-foot-4, 310-pound Wynn played 304 snaps in 12 games. Wynn is currently rotating in the two-deep depth chart at defensive tackle in first-year coordinator Pete Golding’s 4-2-5 defense.

Golding, like Wynn, is in his first season as a Rebel, and he, too, came over from Alabama. He served as Nick Saban’s defensive coordinator the previous three seasons and has never had worse than a Top 30 defense in any of his stops as a defensive coordinator.
Wynn said the presence of Golding has made his transition easier.
“There are a lot of things I’m used to,” he said. “We have a relationship going back to when I was just a kid. He contacted me when I got in the portal, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity.”
Wynn was one of three Rebels to hold court at the Manning Center on Thursday. The others were veteran Ole Miss offensive lineman Jeremy James and Miami (Ohio) transfer defensive back John Saunders Jr.
