Florida knocks off the Rebels

11/23/2024 02:39:16 PM

Dart throws an interception twice, first was overturned the second was not, and that will do it.

Gators beat No. 9 Ole Miss 24-17

Dart throws an interception

11/23/2024 02:27:31 PM

I am not sure what Dart saw but he threw into triple coverage downfield and it was picked off by Bryce Thorton.

Barring something wild that will all but seal it, it looks like.

Last chance here

11/23/2024 02:22:41 PM

Ole Miss forced Florida to punt who opted to not run the ball and milk more of the clock. Rebels are on the move and at the Gators 44 at the two-minute timeout.

Dart has made plays with his legs again this drive to keep it going. Got 7 on a scramble on 3rd & 6

24-17 Gators

Rebels have to punt it away

11/23/2024 02:11:17 PM

Two dropped passes from Juice Wells and another one by Watkins in the endzone makes it around 4 or 5 drops today by the receivers.

Dart is sacked and Ole Miss has to put it away, trailing by seven with 6:26 remaining. Gators ball at their 6

Gators take the lead late

11/23/2024 02:06:25 PM

Dart was sacked deep in their own end of the field and had to punt.

Lagway’s connected on his first deep ball for 41 yards set up what was a nine-yard run by Montrell Johnson, Jr. and the Gators lead by seven with just under 8 minutes to play.

Caden Davis converts to tie it up, again

11/23/2024 01:41:46 PM

The Rebels defense is playing stronger this half and forced Florida to punt. But the offense stalled in Gators territory.

Davis converts the 42-yard field goal try and the game is knotted up again as we head to the 4th Quarter

17-all

Ole Miss can’t convert on 4th down, again

11/23/2024 01:31:15 PM

Florida is prepared for the JJ Pegues special and the offensive line has had trouble blocking the Gators defensive line all day.

Dart had to come out of the game after his helmet came off, for a second time that possession, after coming up a yard short on a 3rd down scramble. So they went with Pegues on 4th and short, couldn’t get it.

Gators ball at their 10 with 5:43 left in the third quarter

Defense comes out strong, but a punt miscue

11/23/2024 01:11:23 PM

The defensive front of the Rebels looked better on the opening possession of the half getting pressure to Lagway and forced a punt.

Micah Davis then muffs the punt return after calling for a fair catch. Gators recovered at the Rebels 37.

The miscue by Davis leads to three points for Florida as Trey Smack converts a 53-yard field goal try.

17-14 Gators with 11 minutes left in the 3rd Qtr

Tied up at halftime

11/23/2024 12:45:36 PM

A half to go for Ole Miss to leave Gainesville with a victory but the first 30 minutes were more uninspiring than they were inspiring.

Despite the two good drives that led to touchdowns, the Rebels did not look great, made bad calls or missed a field goal to leave more points on the board.

Defense finally got to Lagway late in the half.

14-14 at intermission

1st Half Stats:

Harris goes down, Davis misses the field goal

11/23/2024 12:25:08 PM

On 3 & 6 Dart tried to hit Tre Harris, who caught it but then went down immediately. Refs ruled it an incomplete and not a fumble after the review.

Bad possession gets worse as Harris walks to the locker room and Caden Davis misses the 34-yard field goal attempt.

Gators have the ball back at their 20

Lagway ties things up

11/23/2024 12:16:51 PM

The Ole Miss defensive line is still a step too late in trying to take Lagway down. He converted another pass with a Rebel on him. A penalty flag on the defense helped lead to a 25 yard pass from Lagway to Baugh.

We’re tied up at 14

The takeaway leads to points for the Rebels

11/23/2024 12:06:54 PM

John Saunders, Jr. comes up with his second interception in as many games off a tipped pass from Lagway. He has really been a strength of the secondary in the second half of the season.

The Ole Miss offense is starting to look like itself now. Dart converted a 4 & 2 on a deep pass to Watkisn after he tried to get to Prieskorn but he was covered at the line. He then hits Cayden Lee for the 22-yard TD pass

Rebels with their first lead, up 14-7 with 9 minutes left in the half

Welcome back, Tre Harris

11/23/2024 11:55:28 AM

Dart finds Tre Harris for 43 yards down the middle and the touchdown. That was placed beautifully by Dart in the only spot he could put the ball.

Maybe that will settle the Rebels down some. The crowd got quiet, too.

7-7 12:01 2Q

Gators score first, Yam Banks injured

11/23/2024 11:46:06 AM

Lagway finds Elijah Badger for the 8 yard TD pass in the corner of the endzone. Gators in front and this place is loud.

Yam Banks was on the coverage and went down immediately when Badger turned and made the catch. Not sure if he got himself twisted up or they collided knees, but the cart is out.

7-0 Florida early 2nd Qtr

Lagway making the big plays

11/23/2024 11:40:46 AM

The Rebels defensive front are getting to Lagway but he has made two big throws before they can get him down and the Gators are facing a 3rd and Goal at the 8.

Pressure has been there this drive, but seem a second too late each time.

We’ve made it through a quarter and it is still scoreless after 15 minutes

Pegues stopped short

11/23/2024 11:30:42 AM

The Rebels offense looked better that drive with Wright having a couple big catches as did Cayden Lee, but Pegues was stopped a yard short on 4 & 1 and Gators take over on its 11 yard-line.

Defense gets its first stop

11/23/2024 11:22:55 AM

Trey Amos got a pass breakup on 3rd down to for the Gators to punt for the first time today.

Dae’Quan Wright is back in the offense huddle on the sideline with his helmet on. Appears okay.

Rebels forced to punt it to begin things

11/23/2024 11:17:25 AM

Dart was sacked on 3rd & 4 and the Ole Miss had to punt it away. He had time but nobody was open and he was tackled amid scrambling around.

Starting Off

11/23/2024 11:10:57 AM

The Ole Miss offensive line starters was the usual Pettus, Kalepo, McIntyre, Pounds and Scott. Micah Davis with the first carry for the Rebels, so getting a tad creative.

Gators DB Aaron Gates went down with an injury and needed help off.

Pregame Observations

11/23/2024 09:42:36 AM

While down on the field Ole Miss arrived and had its walk around. Tre Harris looks ready to go and Princely Umanmielen was as locked in as I think a player could be.

Harris is suited up and ready to go, going through full warm ups

Florida won the toss and deferred. Ole Miss ball to start.

Injury updates

11/23/2024 09:42:28 AM

The player availability list is the shortest it is has been all season for No. 9 Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference), which comes at the right time with two regular season games remaining in six days.

Tre Harris is going to give it a go and according to Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin is back after missing the last three games. Despite the absence Harris is still the SEC’s and nation’s leading receiving in several categories.

There will not be a debut for Logan Diggs this week as he was listed as ‘OUT’ in Friday’s report. Diggs joins Rashad Amos and Henry Parrish, Jr., leaving Ulysses Bentley IV, Matt Jones and Domonique Thomas as the available running backs.
