LIVE! FROM THE VAUGHT: Real time updates for No. 6 Ole Miss - Middle Tennessee
FINAL: OLE MISS 52, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 3
Career day for Parrish and more records set by Dart as the Rebels cruise to a second straight win. Dating back to the Peach Bowl this is now 10 straight quarts the defense has given up only 1 touchdown.
Ole Miss 52, Middle Tennessee 3 4th Qtr 9:44
He finds Juice Wells for the first passing touchdown of the game. Should be it for the starters.
Dart also set a single-game SEC record and a SEC record for consecutive completions over multiple games. He passed Tee Martin’s total of 24 set in 1998 against Alabama (1) and South Carolina (23).
Jaxson Dart sets a new school record for consecutive completions at 24. He passes Matt Corral’s old record of 19 set against Vanderbilt in 2020.
END OF THE 3RD QUARTER: OLE MISS 45, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 3
Dart is sitting on 18 consecutive completions. Tied with Eli Manning’s game against Murray State in 2001. Matt Corral currently holds the record at 19 against Vanderbilt in 2020.
Ole Miss 45, Middle Tennessee 3 3rd Qtr 3:10
New career high for Parrish as he scores his fourth rushing touchdown of the game. Rebels were backed up after an offense pass interference but Cayden Lee bailed them out with a 24-yard catch to the 1 yard-line.
TJ Dottery with the fumble recovery at the Raiders 14 yard-line. Not that it was in any doubt but this would put it to bed for certain with a touchdown here.
Ole Miss 38, Middle Tennessee 3 3rd Qtr 6:00
It is the second half so that means it is time for a Matt Jones touchdown. Nine-yard run for Jones.
Nolen is out of the tent and on the exercise bike so seems he’s okay, putting pressure on the foot.
John Saunders bails the defense out with an interception in the end zone, but Walter Nolen gets hurt on the play. Has to be helped off and not putting pressure on his left foot.
The defense is starting the second half how it ended the first. Middle Tennessee getting whatever it wants on short passes or passes out wide. Back in Rebels territory and nearly 5 minutes chewed off the clock to begin the third quarter.
Some first half stats:
Dart: 15-15, 223 yds (5 carries, -5 yds, 1 TD)
Parrish: 12 carries, 122 yds, 3 TDs
Harris: 7 catches, 88 yds
HALFTIME: OLE MISS 31, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 3
I think the starting offense will at least start the second half this week.
Ole Miss defense shutout streak ends as just shy of six quarters as the Blue Raiders get on the board with a 32-yard field goal. Rebels pass defense did not look stellar that drive as Vattiato came in and picked the secondary a part some.
Raiders appeared to have a 66-yard touchdown catch by Omari Kelly but a holding call negated it. Brutal blow and the second time a penalty has killed momentum. An illegal formation flag negated about 30 yards in Ole Miss penalties a couple drives earlier.
Ole Miss 31, Middle Tennessee 0 1st Qtr 3:07
Parrish tying a career high with his third rushing touchdown of the game. He’s got 122 yards on 12 carries. Still no Bentley but maybe he appears in the second half.
Rebels go 99 yards, tying its longest scoring drive since the 2022 Egg Bowl, and continue to pad the lead. The spread was around 42.5 before kickoff and they get most of it in the first half.
Raiders starting running back Frank Peasant injured and has been down for a bit. Tough blow to an offense that has struggled so far today. Vattiato was also replaced by third string QB Xavier Williams this drive.
Ole Miss 24, Middle Tennessee 0 2nd Qtr 10:52
Dart took a blind side shot but was okay. He proved so by rushing the ball a couple times that drive, including a three-yard touchdown run. Still no Bentley but the run game has not missed him, yet, with Parrish having a big day.

END OF THE 1ST QUARTER: OLE MISS 17, MIDDLE TENNESSEE 0
Bentley is on the field dressed out and holding his helmet. If there is an injury it is not one that is known.
Ole Miss 17, Middle Tennessee 0 1st Qtr 2:10
Parrish is now up to 92 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns after the 11-yard touchdown run. Still no sign of Bentley on the field.
The defensive line continued to frustrate the Middle Tennessee offense as Pegues and Walter Nolen got in the backfield a couple times.
Ole Miss 10, Middle Tennessee 0 1st Qtr 8:22
Back to the ground game after a couple passes to Tre Harris. Parrish broke for a couple big runs up the middle, attacking the middle of the Raiders defensive line, scoring on a an 11-yard run. He’s up to 81 yards on six carries.
Defense smothering Raiders quarterback Nicholas Vattiato and it’s a quick three-and-out for the visitors.
Ole Miss 3, Middle Tennessee 0 1st Qtr 11:30
Caden Davis with the 33-yard field goal.
Drive stalled with a backwards play on a Lee catch and then Matt Jones was tackled in the back field. Then a false start killed a 4th and short opportunity.
Kiffin challenged the running backs and offensive line to try and get the ground game going. Message received as the first four plays were run plays for Parrish.
Ole Miss won the toss and elected to receive the ball. Rebels offense out first.
Nate Kalepo, Reece McIntyre, Julius Buelow, Jayden Williams and Micah Pettus announced as the starting offensive line.
Update: Jordan Watkins is suited up and fielding punts.
PREGAME
Week 2 is here and No. 6 Ole Miss (1-0) is back at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and looking to see a little tougher test with Middle Tennessee and Derek Mason coming to town.
The Blue Raiders (1-0) needed a touchdown in the final 16 seconds to best Tennessee Tech in their season opener.
On the injury front Ole Miss could see its wide receivers room get healthier. Head coach Lane Kiffin mentioned during Thursday’s Reb Talk show that Jordan Watkins could “potentially” return against Middle Tennessee.
How much and how impactful Watkins would be is yet to be seen, as he is still not listed on the depth chart provided to us in the press box.
Today’s captains are: Trey Washington, Henry Parrish, Jr. and Tyler Banks
