On the same day Ole Miss baseball was having even more trouble in paradise, an inspired Rebel women’s basketball team was rallying past bitter in-state rival Mississippi State

Ole Miss (18-7, 8-5 SEC) took the Bulldogs to overtime, where the Rebels used a 7-0 burst, and 12-8 overall period, to clinch the 75-71 win. Ole Miss secured its second consecutive overtime win, a first in program history.

Madison Scott had 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Marquesha Davis had 17, six and three, respectively. She added two blocks and two steals. The Rebels were down eight with five minutes remaining in regulation, but Scott, a senior forward, forced the extra frame with a tying layup in the game’s final seconds

“Win the game,” Scott said afterwards, when asked what was going through her mind during the play. “No, the clock was running down, and I just wanted to do whatever to help us get the win and attacked. I had confidence (and) my teammates had confidence in me throwing me the ball. I just wanted to make a good play.”

Ole Miss has four games left before postseason play begins.

The Rebels, on Thursday, host Georgia (February 22) for the second time this season. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.

“Toughness,” Kennedy Todd-Williams said of the Rebels. Todd-Williams, a first-year transfer from North Carolina, had her first double-double (16 points and 11 rebounds) in an Ole Miss uniform.

“We’ve been talking about it all year. Especially down the stretch, we just want to continue to be tough, play together as a team and just come out here and compete for 40 minutes or however long. Doesn’t matter. We’re starting to see that through and through these last couple of games.”

Ole Miss has now won at least eight SEC games for the third straight season — another program first.
