Ole Miss needed a running back. Henry Parrish needed a new home.

Naturally they came together in the off-season for one final reunion tour. The Rebels, who won a program-record 11 games last season, are in their second week of preseason camp.

Parrish is a transfer from Miami (Fla.). He had over 800 rushing yards and five touchdowns over two seasons (2020, 2021) as an Ole Miss Rebel.

“This is where I started at,” Parrish said after practice on Monday. “It was a no-brainer. Just wanted to come back and finish what I started.”

Parrish is member to a crowded Ole Miss backfield. The Rebels lost record-setter Quinshon Judkins. However, a now-healthy Ulysses Bentley is the highest-rated returning running back in the SEC.

Ole Miss also portaled Logan Diggs (LSU), Dominique Thomas (Georgia State) and Rashad Amos (Miami of Ohio).

“They welcomed me back with open arms,” Parrish said. “It just felt like home all over again.”

Parrish had 10 starts in 21 games for the Hurricanes. He finished with 1,241 yards and 10 touchdowns on 230 carries. Parrish was third-team All-ACC last season.

“I’ve been with (Rebel running backs) coach (Kevin) Smith since freshman year,” Parrish said. Smith, like Parrish, left Ole Miss for Miami only to return again.

“He was my first offer out of high school, so we always had that connection, that bond. Coming back, it felt awesome. This is where I started. Just to finish it with him and come back, I’m excited for this year.”
