LOOK: Juice Wells’ Ole Miss initiation is winding down. He’s enjoyed every second.
To hear On3’s JD PicKell describe it, Ole Miss football, in the off-season, brought in Antwane ‘Juice’ Wells to be the Batman to Tre Harris’ Superman.
As in, two alphas in a wide receiver room already filled with them.
However, the personal reasons behind Wells’ decision were much more straightforward. Wells last week went into detail for the first time on his transfer from South Carolina during a podcast interview.
“I wanted to be with a quarterback who’s actually experienced in the SEC and can actually control the offense,” Wells said Wednesday. “Also, I want to win, man. I don’t like losing. I’m a competitor.”
Wells had surgery on his foot before the 2023 season.
He caught just three passes for 37 yards and re-aggravated the injury on a touchdown reception against Georgia. He didn’t see the field the remainder of the year.

However, Wells was one of the top receivers in the SEC in 2022, finishing with 68 catches for 928 yards. He chose the Rebels in the portal over, among others, Oregon, Texas and Tennessee. Wells had 1,853 combined receiving yards in two seasons at James Madison, where he started his career.
“Me and (Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart) were constantly on FaceTime calls with Diego Pounds and Nate (Kalepo) and Juice,” Ole Miss senior wide receiver Tre Harris said. “Just trying to get everybody to buy-in and connect with those guys and really show them what Ole Miss is about.
“We’re going to put in work every single day and try to be the best we can possibly be.”
Ole Miss is in its final full week of spring football practices, closing out with the newly-rebranded ‘Grove Bowl Games’ on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.
“It’s been great, man,” Wells said of the Rebels. They won 11 total games last season for the first time in program history. “They came at me with open arms. It’s a real cool, laid-back environment.
“I’m enjoying every second of it. They’re just taking care of me. I love it here, man.”
