LOOK: Ole Miss baseball’s defense of its national title is off to a hot start

Grayson Saunier was one of the more anticipated storylines entering Game 2 of Ole Miss’ season-opening series with Delaware.
He certainly didn’t disappoint over his four innings of a 10-0, series-clinching Rebel win on Saturday.
Saunier, who was the No. 126 overall prospect in the 2022 MLB Draft last July, walked four but struck out five and allowed just one hit. Saunier just this week returned from muscle soreness in his throwing arm.

The Rebels, offensively, supported Saunier with 11 hits. Senior second baseman Peyton Chatagnier had two to lead the team, while nine others had at least one. True freshman Judd Utermark and senior team captain Garrett Wood knocked in three and two runs, respectively, in the eighth.
Wood walked the game off and triggered the run rule. First pitch for the series finale against Delaware is set for Sunday at noon. Left-hander Xavier Rivas, a junior college transfer, will draw his first-ever Rebel start.
