LOOK: Ole Miss' Kemp Alderman erased a baseball from existence Sunday vs Alabama
Ole Miss was swept at home by Alabama on Sunday, falling to 4-8 in Southeastern Conference play for the first time since 2013 in the Mike Bianco era. But, the Rebels’ utility man, Kemp Alderman, did something to a baseball in the 7th inning of Sunday’s game which has probably never been done before.
The sophomore from Decatur, Miss., has been one of the few bright spots for an Ole Miss team which has gone from No. 1 in the country to unranked in a matter of weeks. But through 31 games, Alderman leads Ole Miss in batting average (.308) and is slugging .590 with five home runs and 15 runs batted in. He’s also only struck out 19 times this season and has an on-base percentage of .413 in 78 at-bats.
But, again, on Sunday he accomplished a feat that may have only been done in batting practice back in the late 90’s or early 2000’s.

The 6-foot-3, 265 pounder flexed his muscles and then some on a 1-0 slider that was hanging belt-high. The former No. 47 overall prospect in the nation and No. 2 first baseman unloaded on one and hit an absolute tank which landed in the parking lot by the Hotty Toddy potties.
Ole Miss baseball analytics clocked it over 110mph and FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY ONE FEET.
So, yeah, the baseball team is struggling mightily, sitting tied for dead last in the SEC West with Mississippi State and 19-12 overall, but Alderman did send the Swayze Field crowd into a frenzy with a nuke that almost landed at the steps in front of the Gertrude Castellow Ford Center for the Performing Arts.
