No. 4 Ole Miss opened the 2023 season — and kicked off its national-title defense — with an 11-2 win in the first of a three-game series with Delaware on Friday.

Sophomore left-hander Hunter Elliott allowed two runs on three hits with nine strikeouts over his 5.0 innings, while Peyton Chatagnier’s three-run, second-inning home run proved more than enough for a Rebel offense that picked up right from where it left off in Omaha last June.
