NFL Draft week is here. So which former Ole Miss players will get selected and where will they land?
The 2024 NFL Draft is this weekend, starting with the first round on Thursday, and putting the 2023 college football season officially to bed for those who view this week as part of it. This year is not a major draft cycle for Ole Miss but there are still a few players that have a shot at getting their name called.
Next season is shaping up to be a major NFL Draft cycle for the Rebels but before 2025 gets here this week could still be special for Cedric Johnson, Deantre Prince, Daijahn Anthony and others.
Monday starts the final push of mock drafts with the real deal taking place only three nights later. Opening night of the NFL Draft is looking to be a quiet one for Ole Miss with Friday and Saturday looking to be the days to keep an eye on, according to latest mock drafts.
ESPN’s latest mock draft released on Monday by Jordan Reid has three Rebels being selected in the seven-round draft. Of all the mock drafts published it is Johnson that continues to be the first Ole Miss player selected and Reid has him being selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round as the 133rd overall pick.
Johnson’s draft prospects are a little higher in NFL.com’s latest mock draft released by Chad Reuter. The former Ole Miss defensive end is projected by Reuter to be selected by the Washington Commanders in the third round as the 100th overall pick.
While Johnson continues to be the consensus pick to be the first Ole Miss player taken off the board the second player is also unanimous in Prince.

Choosing to return to the Rebels last season for one final run in college is paying off for Prince. Reuter has Prince slotted as a sixth round selection by the New York Giants as the 183rd overall pick.
The cornerback is projected by Reid to go the Atlanta Falcons — via a trade with the Cleveland Browns — also in the sixth round as the 197th overall pick.
Anthony is only projected to be drafted in the seven rounds by ESPN’s Reid, slotting him as a seventh round selection by the Baltimore Ravens and the 250th overall pick.
One name that continues to be left off these mock drafts is receiver Dayton Wade. The former walk-on turned scholarship player at Ole Miss is potentially looking at landing one of the several undrafted free agent signings that roll in immediately after the draft’s conclusion on Saturday.
The 2024 NFL Draft takes place April 25-27 in Detroit and will air on ESPN and NFL Network.
