The Ole Miss offensive line on Tuesday was named one of nine semifinalists for the Joe Moore Award, presented annually to the most outstanding offensive line unit in the country.
But the only thing on the mind of veteran guard Nick Broeker this week is the Rebels bouncing back from their second loss of the season.
Ole Miss is 8-2 (4-2 SEC) following a 30-24 loss to Alabama. Up next is a road trip to Arkansas (5-5, 2-4) Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
“I thought (the offensive line) actually did a pretty good job,” against Alabama, Broeker said. “Towards the end of the game, obviously, allowed a little bit more pressure than previously.
“But I thought we did a really good job coming early and kind of asserting ourselves into the game. Kind of playing behind our pads and getting our feet moving and really trying to finish blocks and setting a tone.”

Broeker and his front mates have paved the way for one of the nation’s most prolific offenses.
Ole Miss currently leads the SEC and ranks No. 3 in the FBS with 259.8 rushing yards per game. The Rebels also rank in the Top 10 nationally in total rushing yards (No. 3, 2,598), rushing touchdowns (No. 7, 29) and total rushing attempts (No. 5, 479).
The Rebels are second in the SEC and No. 23 nationally in fewest sacks allowed, and they’re one of just five team with three players over 500 yards rushing for the season.

Ole Miss has used three different starting lineups among six different starting offensive linemen, including two redshirt freshmen. In total, the core six linemen that have started in 2022 have combined for 119 career starts and 153 career games played.
“You’re just ready to play the next one,” Broeker said of the team-wide mindset following the loss. “You evaluate the tape and kind of get ready for Arkansas. Now it’s just all the focus on Arkansas because it’s such a long season. But at the same time, it’s a quick transition week-to-week. We’re fortunate we get to play another one. We get to go up to Arkansas. That’s what we’re really excited about now.
“The things that really stand out is how disciplined they are. They’re always in the right gaps and playing where they’re supposed to a be. They do a really good job of flying to the ball. You can tell they love to play with each other. They don’t make many mental errors.”
Here’s everything Broeker had to say in his recent meeting with local media, in a video provided by Ole Miss Sports Production.
