#notcommitted: Ole Miss as a title contender is legit, even as the wait for Walter Nolen continues
In this edition of #notcommitted, Ben Garrett and Zach Berry of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 (OMSpirit.com) guide you through Rebel football’s headline-stealing transfer-portal exploits, punctuated on Sunday by the addition of Juice Wells.
Wells, from South Carolina, is the top-ranked player at his position in the portal, according to On3. His pledge capped a weekend where Ole Miss also secured, among others, the Tennessee transfer duo of Tyler Baron (EDGE) and Tamarion McDonald (safety).
But the Rebels still aren’t done. They’re waiting on Walter Nolen, a defensive tackle from Texas A&M, who visited this weekend. Ole Miss is the favorite to land Nolen, the portal’s top overall player, and the Rebels could be surging in the recruitment of Mississippi State cornerback Decamerion Richardson as well.
Safe to say everyone should be taking Ole Miss seriously as a national title contender next season.
“This has been years of work and planning,” Garrett said, in reference to the Rebels’ remarkable portal success so far this off-season. “Ole Miss builds through the portal. It’s working.”

However, there is some question on the commitment status of four-star 2024 wide receiver Noreel White.
White supposedly de-committed Sunday night.
“I talked to Noreel (Sunday),” Berry said. “He was talking about working Stonka Burnside and trying to get him to join us (as a Rebel). A teenage being a teenager. Who knows, but assured he is still a commit.
“I talked to Patrick Broomfield, and he said he talked to Noreel last night. He said everything’s good. I don’t see any ready to make anything of it.”
