WATCH: Pass pro is a ‘passion’ for Ole Miss’ Henry Parrish, Jr. And he’s improving.
LSU was a game to forget for most every Ole Miss coach and player.
Henry Parrish, Jr., however, used it as fuel for Oklahoma.
Parrish, Jr., graded out well enough overall (75.2) in Death Valley. But he struggled again in pass protection, including LSU linebacker Whit Weeks carrying him into quarterback Jaxson Dart’s lap in the overtime period.
He graded out better against Oklahoma, if only slightly. But progress is progress. Parrish, Jr., won’t be be the Rebels’ lowest-graded pass-protector (46.3) much longer if he keeps improving week-in and week-out.
“I take that with a passion — protecting the quarterback with my life,” Parrish, Jr., said Tuesday after practice. “That’s a big step in my game that I wanted to take. Had to bounce back from that LSU week. It felt good to feel good again.”
Another road challenge awaits Parrish, Jr., and No. 19 Ole Miss (6-2, 2-2 SEC) at Arkansas (5-3, 3-2) on Saturday.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
The Rebels and Razorbacks will be meeting for the 71st time — tied for the fourth-most-played rivalry in school history. Arkansas has won 13 of the 15 meetings in Fayetteville.
“You’ve got to pack your run game and defense,” Parrish, Jr., said. “(Ole Miss) Coach (Lane) Kiffin harps on that every away game. That’s what we mainly focus on. That’s the model.”

Ole Miss was whipped, 42-27, at Arkansas two years ago. The Rebels escaped with a 27-20 win in Oxford last season.
“The last road game was pretty rough,” Parrish, Jr., said. “We’ve just got to play Ole Miss football. It’s all about us at the end of the day. Play Ole Miss football and go 1-0 every day.”
Parrish, Jr., was joined by teammates JJ Pegues and John Saunders, Jr., in addressing local Ole Miss media on Tuesday. Here’s everything they had to say.
