The Flagship: Ole Miss baseball has rebounded nicely
After a hectic beginning to the season in Hawaii, Ole Miss baseball appears to have regained its footing. The Rebels are now 8-5 and looking ahead to a midweek tilt against Memphis and weekend series against Morehead State.
On this edition of “The Flagship”, Greg Jones from LB’s Meat Market joins to give his thoughts on last weekend’s series victory over Iowa and the new-look lineup making progress. Andrew Fischer had a great weekend at the plate, Austin Simmons is dealing and Mike Bianco seems to have found something in the day-to-day lineup.
We discuss this as well as talk about a new advertiser, Black Type Thoroughbreds, and how you can get involved with them. They strive to provide each investor with the excitement of owning elite racehorses. This experience includes barn visits with the horses, morning works, weekly updates from trainers and organized raceday accommodations.
OMSpirit’s Ben Garrett is fired up about Austin Simmons. He joined the show Tuesday to crank up the hype train.
“I could see him being a rotation guy by the end of his Ole Miss career,” Garrett said. “Right now, for this Ole Miss team, he’s perfect where he is. When the pressure’s been on, he’s risen to the occasion.

“And when you think about your future quarterback, that’s what you want. That’s where it starts. My stock report for Austin Simmons right now is through the roof. Jaxson Dart has one season left here. Who’s next? They have good candidates. They’ve got talent.
“But is anyone showing he’s next in line? We might be on the opening steps of a huge Ole Miss story (in Simmons) if he keeps this up. He’s got something. He doesn’t back down at all.”
