Ole Miss cancels midweek game with Austin Peay, wrapping up 2023 home schedule
Turns out the final home game of the 2023 Ole Miss baseball season has already been played as the final midweek game of the year will not be taking place.
Ole Miss announced on Sunday that it and Austin Peay “mutally agreed” to cancel Tuesday’s game which was set for a 6:30 p.m. CT first pitch and mark the end of the Rebels home schedule.
Saturday’s 13-5 loss to Auburn now serves as the final game Ole Miss will play at Oxford-University Stadium this year.
With this being the final week of the regular season it goes without saying, but the announcement also included that the Rebels and Austin Peay would not reschedule the game.
Ole Miss was swept by the the Tigers this past weekend in its final Southeastern Conference home series of the season. It was the eighth SEC series the Rebels (25-26) lost this year, giving them a 6-21 record heading into the final weekend of conference play.

The Rebels finished the season with a overall home record of 17-15 and 3-12 in the SEC.
The loss on Saturday paired with Missouri’s walk-off win over Georgia, which happened minutes apart from one another, mathematically eliminated Ole Miss from the SEC Tournament and any subsequent postseason run.
“At the end of your day it’s your job and we talk about that a lot, being consistent and showing up,” said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco after Saturday’s game. “We don’t do the math, I didn’t even know that was the deal. We just keep playing and let the chips fall where they may. Never been here. Never been (with) a losing record this late. A lot of firsts, for all of us. It’s not about me. Obviously, it’s been tough.”
With Tuesday’s game canceled Ole Miss now wraps up its season with a three-series at Alabama, starting on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT. All three games of the series will air on SEC Network+
