Ole Miss baseball added talented 2026 commit over the weekend
On Friday, 2026 Ottumwa (Iowa) right-handed pitcher Tucker Long announced his verbal commitment to Ole Miss.
The 6-foot-1, 160 pound prospect is graded by Perfect Game as a 9 on its 1-to-10 scale. The grade is PG’s way of saying Long has a chance to be a “potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect”.
Scouts say he has a “fast arm and very projectable, quality athlete”. He has been clocked up to 92 MPH and possesses a “power slider”. Long is best known as a strike thrower, boasting a 68 percent strike rate this season as a junior.
He was previously committed to the in-state Iowa Hawkeyes. Long decommitted in the summer. Perfect Game ranks him as the No. 8 overall RHP in the country. Long chose Ole Miss over Tennessee.
Long was named to the IGCA Class 4A All-State first team.
The newest 2026 commit finished the season with a 6-1 record and an earned run average of 0.78 over 62.2 innings. He racked up 101 strikeouts to just 18 walks.

Long is now the highest-rated commit for Ole Miss. The Rebels have the 14th-ranked class, per Perfect Game, with 12 total commits and two Top 100 prospects. Lausanne Collegiate School (Tenn.) infielder Christian Doty is the other blue chip prospect.
