2026 Sumner (Fla.) utility prospect Winston Pennant made it official Sunday and committed to Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-3, 200 pound right-handed pitcher and outfielder hit .318 as a sophomore and collected 18 runs batted in, seven doubles and two home runs. He had an OPS of .953 and boasted a .515 slugging percentage. On the mound he shows promise, making five appearances and striking out six in five innings. Opponents hit just .222 against him and he only walked four batters.

Pennant is the 10th commit in Mike Bianco’s 2026 class. He is a Top 5 prospect in the class, joining Top 100 prospect Christian Doty from Lausanne Collegiate (Tenn.), Magnolia Heights (Miss.) infielder Cole Prosek, Seneca (S.C.) infielder William Cutshall and Chaparral (Ariz.) right-handed pitcher Devin Long.

Scouts have a lot to like about Winston Pennant after seeing him at the Perfect Game Junior Showcase earlier this year.

“Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and some present strength, plenty of room to fill moving forward. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash,” PG scout said. “Primary outfielder, one handed gather out to the side working into a long arm action through the back and to a high three-quarters release, shows some present arm strength and carry to the intended target.

“Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch from the third base side of the rubber. Similar full arm swing up to a three-quarters release point. Whips the arm through to release, gets misdirected and will continue to refine release point. Up to 89 MPH with fastball and landed curveball in zone up to 74 mph,” PG scout said. “Right-handed hitter with a high handset and back elbow at the plate, upright stance. Full swing path through the zone and looks to impact to the pull side. Best swings came in live action with a pair off doubles off the left field wall registering at 99 and 100 mph, strength is real and plays when on time.”

Perfect Game scouts got a look at him this summer as well.

Pennant was able to flash his skills on the bump and at the plate. He pitched a few outings in July and showed a low 90’s fastball, sprinkling in some decent offspeed. He “lived in the strike zone”, one scout said, and “challenged hitters consistently”.

At the plate, one scout boasted he “swings a level barrel” with “easy power, projectable frame”.
