Ole Miss baseball's Kevin Graham to have surgery on injured wrist
No. 2 Ole Miss will be without a key player for a second time in the young college baseball season, though it will not be for the rest of the season.
A scan done on Monday revealed a fracture scaphiod bone in Kevin Graham’s wrist. The left fielder injured it during Saturday’s game at UCF and did not play in Sunday’s series finale.
Graham is scheduled to undergo surgery to place a pin in the wrist on Wednesday. The expected timetable for Graham’s return is approximately four weeks.
Graham is currently hitting .308 with a team-leading 17 RBIs off 12 hits including two doubles and four home runs. He is tied with Tim Elko who also leads the team with four home runs.
The injury occurred in the 10th inning of the Rebels’ 1-0 12-inning loss to the Knights on Saturday. Graham was then spotted in the dugout on Sunday wearing a splint on his wrist and was never listed in the lineup in pregame.

“He fell awkwardly on the hand, wrist and kind of jammed it to the ground,” head coach Mike Bianco said of Graham’s injury following Sunday’s game. “He was stiff (on Sunday) and wasn’t able to swing.”
The injury comes after catcher Hayden Dunhurst returned to the lineup after missing a couple weeks to due a hamstring injury. The Rebels have dealt with key injuries the past two seasons with Peyton Chatagnier and Tim Elko in 2021.
Graham will miss the first four SEC series, starting at Auburn on March 17. If Graham’s rehab following the surgery goes as expected and returns in four weeks, the earlier he would be available to play would be the weekend series against Alabama starting on April 8.
The Rebels return to Oxford-University Stadium this week for a five-game homestand before hitting the road next week to open conference play at Auburn. The Rebels play Memphis on Tuesday (6:30 p.m. CT) and Alcorn State on Wednesday (6:30 p.m. CT) before taking on Oral Roberts for a weekend series starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
