Ole Miss baseball’s Mike Clement: The Rebs are hot, just in time for SEC play
In this edition of The Flagship, part of the Talk of Champions podcast network, and powered by College Corner and RiverLand Roofing, Ben Garrett of the Ole Miss Spirit/On3 (OMSpirit.com) is joined by Rebel baseball hitting coach Mike Clement.
The Rebels have gotten hot after a slow start, having now won 10 of their last 11 games following their first sweep of the season over the weekend. Next up is a midweek road trip to ULM, followed by a three-game home series with South Carolina to open SEC play.
“I think it’s safe to say we’ll never go back to Hawaii,” Clement joked, in referencing Ole Miss’ season-opening, four-game split where the offense really struggled. “There are no excuses. We’ve played well since then.

“Most of it is the offense. We were so poor through those first six games. The one silver lining for me is that we walked, but we weren’t swinging it great. Since that point, when we were hitting about .150 (as a team), we’ve really done a good job. It’s more of what I thought this team would be and is.
“The offensive numbers going into league play, and it all changes once you start SEC play, but we’ve scored a lot of runs and we’ve been on base. We’re on base at almost .440 as a team, which is outstanding. We’re up there in walks. If you’re on base, it directly correlates to scoring runs, and we’ve done a really good job of that.”
