ToC Short Sessions: Chris Beard has Ole Miss basketball way ahead of schedule
Ole Miss (18-4, 5-4) might’ve dropped a home game to a ranked-Auburn team which is still in search of its first Quad 1 win. But the blueprint is there and the plan is working.
On this episode of Talk of Champions: Short Sessions, everyone’s favorite offensive line enthusiast Grayson Weir joins us to talk about the first 22 games for the Rebels. Sure, the Rebs blew a big halftime lead but Chris Beard‘s culture is there in spades. In fact, it’s everywhere.
Even Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl has taken notice.
“First of all, Chris Beard is a great coach. He has got a great staff,” Pearl said. “It’s hard to develop culture in six months. I told him before the game. I said, ‘What you’ve done in six months took me three years to do at Auburn’, you know?”

Weir and I talk about the Rebels’ resume heading into the homestretch, current bracketology predictions and what Beard and Co. need to do in the final month of the season to secure a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
“The crowd, this environment? The town last night? I went out to the grocery store for dinner – whatever it is. Man, just? It’s nice,” Pearl said. “It’s big time. Fans were out but they were all really respectful.”
