2025 four-star shooting guard Patton Pinkins commits to Ole Miss
The recruiting process was certainly different for 2025 Frenship (Tex.) four-star shooting guard Patton Pinkins. Despite early offers from Oklahoma, Wake Forest, LSU and Cincinnati, the 6-foot-5, 170 pound prospect always came back to Ole Miss. And his father, Rebel assistant Al Pinkins.
Now, he’s joined Chris Beard’s 2025 class after announcing his commitment to Ole Miss.
The blue chip from the Lone Star State is ranked as the No. 60 overall prospect. He is the 20th-ranked shooting guard and the No. 6 player in Texas. Pinkins’ debut in On3’s 150 rankings was a loud one. He was initially ranked as the 46th-ranked player in the country as well as the No. 15 player at his position. Now he sits at No. 65. Nevertheless, his on-court performance has not suffered one bit.
Earlier this spring with JL3 16U, he averaged 16.8 points per game at Memphis’ EYBL 2023 Elite Youth Session. He grabbed 5.2 rebounds and dished out 2.5 assists per game as well. Pinkins shot 56.3 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range.
Pinkins was a key cog for a 30-5 Frenship High School team in 2022-2023.
The Tigers were district champions, bi-district champions and are championship title winners. This summer at Peach Jam in Atlanta, Ga., Pinkins averaged 17.8 points per game when competing against the best in the country from the 2024 and 2025 classes.

Patton Pinkins has been thinking about this day and the prospect of playing for his father in college.
“My dad used to coach there before and he is back there now,” Pinkins said. “It is a great college town and they have great food. They love basketball and football. I would love to play for them one day.”
Now, he has the opportunity to play for his father and Chris Beard in the Southeastern Conference. He is Ole Miss’ first commit in the 2025 class. The 2022-2023 Lone Star Varsity boys basketball player of the year has led the Tigers to a 60-9 record in his first two years on varsity. But despite scoring 28 points in a 6A regional playoff game, he will have his sights set on a state championship in 2023-2024.
The scouting report on Patton Pinkins is one of immense praise.
“Patton is a three-level scorer with great feel and understanding of the game,” certified NCAA scout Chris Wash said. “Elite shooter with range, rebounds it from the guard spot. Probably the best shooter in the 2025 class from what I’ve seen.”
Wash went on further to say, simply, Pinkins is a “pro”.
