ToC Short Sessions: Jamie Shaw analyzes Patton Pinkins' game
Ole Miss and Chris Beard received a commitment from Frenship (Tex.) four-star shooting guard Patton Pinkins Wednesday. So naturally, OMSpirit reached out to On3’s national basketball recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw to take a look at who the Rebels are getting.
The blue chip from the Lone Star State is ranked as the No. 60 overall prospect. He is the 20th-ranked shooting guard and the No. 6 player in Texas. Pinkins’ debut in On3’s 150 rankings was a loud one. He was initially ranked as the 46th-ranked player in the country as well as the No. 15 player at his position. Now he sits at No. 65. Nevertheless, his on-court performance has not suffered one bit.
Earlier this spring with JL3 16U, he averaged 16.8 points per game at Memphis’ EYBL 2023 Elite Youth Session. He grabbed 5.2 rebounds and dished out 2.5 assists per game as well. Pinkins shot 56.3 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range.
Shaw talks about his rise on the camp circuit this spring and summer, gives a breakdown on his skill set and how he thinks he fits into the “culture” at Ole Miss.

Patton Pinkins was a fast-riser in the 2025 rankings ahead of his junior year.
Pinkins was a key cog for a 30-5 Frenship High School team in 2022-2023. The Tigers were district champions, bi-district champions and are championship title winners. This summer at Peach Jam in Atlanta, Ga., Pinkins averaged 17.8 points per game when competing against the best in the country from the 2024 and 2025 classes.
Tune in here as Shaw talks about Pinkins’ game, other 2024 and 2025 prospects the Rebels are after and a quick season preview ahead of the opener next week.
