Ole Miss, Chris Beard 4-for-4 in the portal. Davon Barnes commits to the Rebels
After landing commitments from Mikeal Brown-Jones, Malik Dia and Dre Davis, Chris Beard and Ole Miss are staying hot in the portal. On Thursday, Sam Houston State small forward Davon Barnes announced his commitment.
The Memphis, Tenn., prospect was on campus for an official visit Wednesday and committed to the staff before making the short drive north to the Bluff City. He earned Second-Team All-CUSA honors after starting his career at Texas Southern. The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 14 points per game and shot 39 percent from three-point range in 2023-2024.

In high school, he averaged 18.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game at Collierville, earning Class AAA All-State honors as a senior.
Davon Barnes scored 22 points against the Rebels this season. His experience is something the roster needs.
While at TSU, he shot 44 percent from the floor and averaged 4.4 rebounds per game. Barnes scored in double figures 25 times and scored a season-high 30 points against Samford in 2022-2023. This year, he was nearly a 40 percent shooter from deep and grabbed 22 steals for the Bearkats.
