Ole Miss basketball's Sean Pedulla, Madison Scott named finalists for Howell and Gillom Trophies

The college basketball season is winding down and the Ole Miss programs have a pair of players up for the honor to be called the best in Mississippi.
The Gillom and Howell Trophy finalists were announced on Thursday and the Rebels are represented in each. Sean Pedulla and Madison Scott are up to be named the Mississippi’s top men’s and women’s college basketball player for the 2024-25 season.
Pedulla is one of three finalists for the Howell Trophy, which is awarded to the state’s top men’s player. He is joined by Mississippi State’s Josh Hubbard and former Rebel-turned-Jackson State player Daeshun Ruffin.
Transferring in from Virginia Tech this offseason, Pedulla is leading Ole Miss in points per game (14.8), assists (106), steal (54) and made three-pointers (67).
The Rebels (19-9, 8-7 Southeastern Conference) is in a bit of a skid, losing three straight games including Wednesday’s 30-point defeat at No. 1 Auburn.
Mississippi State players have won the last three Howell Trophies. Hubbard is looking to be a repeat winner. The last Ole Miss player to bring it back to Oxford was Devontae Shuler in 2021.

For Scott, she is looking to be the fourth Rebel to win the Gillom Trophy in the last five years. Shakira Austin was back-to-back winners in 2021 and 2022 then Angel Baker won in 2023. Mississippi State’s Jessika Carter won last year.
The Rebel senior forward leads the team with an average of 12.2 points and 3.9 assists per game. The Indian Head, Maryland, native boasts the longest streak of scoring 10-or-more points by a Rebel this season, notching eight consecutive games in double figures, while tallying a team-high 17 total.
In Scott’s 145th career game versus No. 8 Kentucky earlier this season, she passed the award’s namesake Gillom-Granderson herself for most games played donning an OIe Miss jersey.
Scott is a finalist with Jerkaila Jordan from Mississippi State and Jackson State’s Taleah Dilworth.
Both the Gillom and Howell Trophies will be handed out during a luncheon at the Pearl River Resort on March 10.
