Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos officially declares for NFL Draft
Trey Amos is officially one-and-done as an Ole Miss Rebel.
But what a year it was.
Amos transferred to Ole Miss from Alabama last off-season. He went from the No. 3/nickel cornerback with the Crimson Tide to an All-American in his only Rebel season. He’s shot up NFL Draft boards, too.
Amos is a projected first-round selection by Pro Football Focus.
“This past year has been one of the highlights of my life,” Amos wrote in a statement released on social media announcing his departure. “I will never forget my time in Oxford.
“It has always been my goal to play in the NFL, and I am excited to make that dream come true. I will officially be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.”
Making the Grade: How did the Ole Miss portal commits fare at their previous school in 2024?
Amos started all 13 games for Ole Miss in 2024-25.
He finished with 50 tackles, three interceptions, 13 pass break-ups, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
Amos was one of the first draft-eligible Rebels to announce he was playing in the Gator Bowl. Every major contributor for Ole Miss this season but three appeared.
The Rebels were without linebacker Chris ‘Pooh’ Paul, right tackle Micah Pettus and safety Jadon Canady. Paul opted out to prepare for the draft. Pettus was dismissed and has since transferred to Florida State. Canady is in the transfer portal.
Ole Miss dominated the Blue Devils, 52-20. Amos and Co. only gave up 44 rushing yards, a new Gator Bowl record. The Rebels allowed 80.5 per game, on average, for the season — the best mark since 1966.

Ole Miss last held opponents under the century mark back in 2008.
“I feel like it was a great decision,” Amos said last month of his decision to transfer to Ole Miss. “Coming in, it was a smooth transition. I loved every second and minute of being here. I feel like that’s what made me have a great season, being comfortable.”

Ole Miss found its Amos replacement in the portal weeks ago.
The Rebels signed a committed and signed Arkansas’ Jaylon Braxton, one of 17 transfer additions.
They’ve also landed defensive backs Antonio Kite (Auburn) and Sage Ryan (LSU). They’re pursuing, among others, Arizona’s Tacario Davis. Braxton was a 2023 All-SEC freshman. He was injured and played in just two games this season.
“That’s an extreme high-level kid,” was an SEC personnel staffer’s evaluation of Amos back when he transferred to Ole Miss. He also played at Louisiana-Lafayette.
“It’s the height, the length, the explosive movements he’s able to create in terms of changing direction. Footwork to mirror and all that kind of stuff. He’s a solid tackler, too. He’s what you’re looking for as a boundary corner to cover those ‘X’ receivers.”
