As first reported by the OMSpirit, Ole Miss cornerbacks coach Terrell Buckley revealed on Friday he was no longer a part of head coach Lane Kiffin’s staff, tweeting out the news he and the university had parted ways.

Ole Miss Football and I have agreed to part ways. Thank you for the opportunity. The improvement we made defensively from year 1 to 2 was awesome. Players, you know where my heart is concerning you guys. Oxford is a special place. Thank you to entire Univ of Miss Family. TBuck

The longtime secondary coach arrived in Oxford in 2020 with Kiffin in year one. Before Ole Miss Buckley was at Mississippi State, Louisville, Akron and Florida State, his alma mater.

During his time at Ole Miss, the Rebels secondary gave up 324 yards through the air in year one before improving to allowing just 246 this season. Despite the struggles on the field, Buckley was still able to sign an impressive group in the 2021 class including MJ Daniels, Markevious Brown, Kyndrich Breedlove, Elijah Sabbatini and Trey Washington.

The Pascagoula, Miss. coach was a consensus All-American and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back in the country in 1991. He finished seventh in the voting for the Heisman Trophy Award as well.

After college, Buckley went on to be picked 5th overall in 1992 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He collected 50 career interceptions and won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2001.

The College Football Hall of Famer has coached 13 players who went on to sign professional contracts.
