He is the second member of the Rebels starting defensive line to be drafted this year behind fellow defensive end Walter Nolen
Umanmielen is the fifth overall Ole Miss player to be selected and third on the second day of this year’s draft.
A transfer from Florida, Umanmielen spent one season at Ole Miss and helped produce one of the best defenses in program history last season.

Finishing the 2024 campaign with 37 tackles Umanmielen tied for the team-leading 10.5 sacks which also tied for the second-most sacks in a single season in program history.
Similar to Ivey, Umanmielen was considered a draft prospect that might could find their way into the first round as a late pick but more than likely a go in the second round.
“Finesse edge defender with traits, athleticism and upside to have his sack production translate to the NFL,” NFL analyst Lance Zierlen said. “Umanmielen is a serious ground-gainer with burst, stride and bend to create shallow edges leading directly into the quarterback’s drop space. He’s not instinctive and takes predictable pathways to the pocket, but he’s simply hard to keep out of the pocket due to his attributes.
