Ole Miss EDGE Cedric Johnson went off at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine
Cedric Johnson abruptly ended his Ole Miss career by opting out of the Peach Bowl in December to prepare for the NFL Draft.
Johnson appears to have made the right call, based on his performance at the 2024 NFL Draft Combine on Thursday.
Johnson had the fourth-fastest 40-yard-dash time (4.64) of all defensive linemen and fastest for a defensive end/EDGE rusher. He had a 1.61 10-yard split (fifth) and 10.2-inch broad jump (seventh).
“I like Von Miller at lot. I like Joey Bosa,” Johnson said, when asked at SEC Media Days in the summer the next-level players he likes to watch and emulate. “A bunch of guys, really. I like both of the Bosa brothers.
“I like watching Sam Williams, obviously, because we played with each other (at Ole Miss). But I watch a lot of different people and try to emulate and take things from everybody.”

Johnson stood above the rest, however, with a group-leading 38-inch vertical jump.
Johnson possibly made himself some money with the showing. He entered the day widely considered a likely late-round/undrafted selection. NFL Draft Buzz has Johnson as the No. 210 overall prospect.
He was Ole Miss’ active career sack leader when he skipped the Peach Bowl. The Rebels handled Penn State with relative ease to secure their first 11-win season in program history. Johnson participated in the Senior Bowl.
He totaled 111 tackles over a four-year career at Ole Miss. Fifty-six of those tackles were solo. He also recovered two fumbles, forced another and had 19 sacks.
Johnson was the recipient of the 2023 Chucky Mullins Courage Award, which is handed out annually to an Ole Miss upperclassman defensive player that embodies the spirit of the late, great former Rebel.
He had 40 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and 12 quarterback hurries this season.
