Ole Miss was humbled at Tuscaloosa two weeks ago. Then, it responded in a massive way at home in front of the largest crowd in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium history. Lane Kiffin got the marquee win he’s been searching for and No. 16 Ole Miss (4-1, 1-1) is now back in the mix for the SEC West.

Maybe it was the head coach calling plays. Maybe it was the energy from the fans. Or maybe, just maybe, it was a fully healthy group of playmakers. Could be a combination of all three. Whatever it was, Ole Miss put up 706 total yards in an instant classic Magnolia Bowl. Jaxson Dart continues his dark horse Heisman Trophy campaign as he was elite on Saturday. He finished with 389 yards passing and four touchdowns to four different receivers.

Quinshon Judkins is back, folks. He ran for 177 yards and two scores. He certainly ran with more attitude and purpose against an LSU defense that, albeit mediocre, is loaded with playmakers like Harold Perkins, Maason Smith and Mekhi Wingo. Ulysses Bentley was the change-of-pace he’s built to be, running for 90 yards and another score.

And the three-headed monster of Tre Harris, Dayton Wade and Jordan Watkins were unreal.

They combined for 320 yards receiving and three touchdowns. They also averaged 16.3 yards per reception. Transfer wideout Zakhari Franklin is inching closer to being 100 percent and you have to think when he gets there, this offense will be at warp speed.

Defensively, the bend but don’t break mantra made some folks uneasy towards the end of the game. But, when it mattered most, the group rose to the occasion and got back-to-back stops to secure the win.
